A Long Time

It has been a long time since I have journaled here. I have been doing too many posts on facebook. How about I change that and have some personal introspection. And then let me fix this new bug in the Server change that prevents apostrophes from bugging out the updates.

Lay Offs

It has been a very long week. Lay offs have started at work and it looks like there will be a second cut before the end of the year. Morale is pretty low over all at the company and people are on edge now as we finish up the year with few jobs in site. It has now been seven years since our last layoff period, and this one was expected as jobs continued to finish while few new ones started.

I think my job personally is safe, but if we go through another wave of the same size cuts I will worry for my job, there may not be enough people to justify my position. I might finally be back in Portland, who knows.

Now that it is time to drink some 12 year old scotch and unwind.

Uncharted 2 roadblock

I think I've hit a roadblock with Uncharted 2 in chapter 22, the game really just turned into an endless grind of enemy killing at this point. The game is neat, but not actually fun to play. Strictly linear, without any false paths, it's all about the moving through a level to advance to the next story point. And the enemies wearing full tactical body armor in the middle of nepalese temple, oye vey, pick up a Pistole to defeat their helmets.

Not a must buy, but a worth a look. What is odd, is many people believe this is the best the PS3 has to offer. >.<

Sounders vs Dynamos 2

I was at the Sounders game last night with a group of Houston Dynamo fans. I think it was a pretty good game, but I was distracted by the jerk Seattle fans hassling the Houston ones for banging a drum.

We ended up with security around us through the game to keep the Seattle fans stealing the drumsticks and tossing them away, and from blasting those loud horns in our ears.

In the end we were escorted out of the stadium for our protection, exciting!

Uncharted 2

I just got Uncharted 2 last night, and so far it is shaping up to be a good game. I really hope so since I bought a PS3 for it! First highlight for the PS3, it's wonderfully quiet.

Wide Awake

It's 4:14 in the AM and I'm wide awake watching The Sopranos for the second time.

A whole night's sleep isn't something I come by much anymore, not sure what is off kilter.

Ongoing OSHA

I just completed the OSHA Fall Protection Exam, now I know everything about guard rails and covering up holes! 10 and half hours through this 10 hour OSHA course and I'm 28% complete!

Working through the OSHA

This OSHA thing is gonna take some time, I have spent an even four hours on it so far and according to it, I am only 9% complete. So much for a ten hour course!

I took a break from it though to watch the 2nd episode of the new Stargate Universe show. I think it's shaping up very well.

Working on the Weekend

I think I will be busy at work this weekend, I was just informed yesterday that I have to take the OSHA 10 hour safety course. It has zero application for me involving any actual work, but the higher ups decided that all salaried employees will take it if we want our bonuses.

Unfortunately I was informed two months late, so I have two available weekends to get it done in time. I don't mind learning some new stuff, but I am pressed for free time right now.

So I think I will be at work doing that and doing some much needed office cleaning, my work area is a gigantic mess and it's becoming a hassle to work in as well.

BBQ Weekend

I spent the weekend down in Portland again with Eric, Becky, and Caleb; poor little Caleb had a fever most of the weekend though. We also went to a fun little BBQ hosted by Frenchie and Leah Mueller that was really good. The blue cheese and bacon ...burgers that Leah made were great. Mmmmm, delicious. Now back to work!
